40% of foreigners find job in year
Around four in 10 foreign nationals over the age of 15 who come into Ireland take up employment within a year, according to an analysis of social welfare records.
The latest figures, from 2013, show 75,812 people from overseas in that age group were given PPSN cards that year.
Of those, 28,902 - or just over 38% - were recorded as being in employment during the year.
The figures, in the latest report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), only looks at PAYE workers, and does not show foreign nationals who may be self-employed or students, for example.
The CSO looked at employment activity during 2013 for 320,246 foreign nationals aged 15 and over who received a PPSN card since 2002.
