Ahern power-broking deals revealed
Details of a deal securing former taoiseach Bertie Ahern support from two independent TDs have emerged.
It is understood the Fianna Fail leader promised former South Kerry TD Jackie Healy-Rae around 71 million euro to spend on roads projects.
Mr Ahern needed support from Mr Healy-Rae and independent Tipperary North TD Michael Lowry when forming a new government in 2007.
Other pledges included health centre developments and building work on Kenmare Hospital.
But the economic crash and downfall of the government meant not all the deals were completed.
Mr Ahern also agreed to give both TDs speaking time in the Dail, as well as access to the taoiseach on matters concerning their respective constituencies.
The details, revealed by RTE, will be discussed on the broadcaster's The Week In Politics programme.
Both Mr Healy-Rae and Mr Lowry will be interviewed on the show.
