Car passenger shot by lone gunman

A man has been rushed to hospital after being shot in Dublin.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was the front passenger in a car as it pulled out of a driveway on Cherryfield Avenue, Hartstown, when he was injured shortly before 7pm.

A lone gunman approached the vehicle and opened fire on the man.

He was taken by ambulance to Connnolly Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries.

The driver of the car was unharmed.

Gardai have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the shooting and seen the gunman, who fled on foot towards Portersgate.

The scene has been cordoned off and officers have launched an investigation.
