Couple wed pagan-style on beach
A couple ditched Christian tradition to put back the clock 5,000 years and hold a pagan wedding ceremony on their local beach.
Gavin and Jerusha Marley then joined 60 guests for their reception – in a field. Tree surgeon Gavin (36) and Fermanagh bride Jerusha (30) said 'I do' in the traditional Irish handfasting ceremony on Trawalua beach near Cliffoney in Co Sligo.
"It gave a whole new meaning to a beach wedding," laughed Jerusha, who runs a coastal adventure tourism business. "This is one of the most beautiful places on Earth so we decided this was the best place to get married."
As the 'wedding' wasn't recognised by the State, the happy couple did the legal bit at a registration office in Jerusha's native Fermanagh beforehand.
