Derry schoolgirl Janda makes Croke Park address

It was a big day for four Derry girls on Saturday as they headed to Dublin to take part in the papal visit.

St Mary's College pupil Janda Hassan, from Syria, spoke no English when she joined the school two years ago.

But on Saturday she delivered a reflection on 'The Global Family' in front of an audience of more than 70,000 at Croke Park.

Her three schoolmates - Rebecca Wright, Shannon Knox and Eirinn Baird - were in the capacity crowd, cheering for their friend as she addressed the massive gathering.

Earlier the girls and their teachers had attended a reception for the Pope at Dublin Castle, where they mingled with VIPs.
