Two teenagers have died and three others have been injured after a crash in Co Donegal during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The pair were fatally injured when their car crashed between Quigley’s Point and Whitecastle at about 3.35am.

One of the young men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Three other teenagers in the car were also injured.

The other occupants, also males in their late teens, were taken to Altnagelvin and Letterkenny Hospital and are described as being in a stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Gardai in Buncrana are investigating and the road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

"It's an absolutely terrible tragedy and so sad to think there are two families left devastated at the loss of their two sons," he said.

Fr Francis Bradley told BBC NI that the young men were both from Buncrana.

Fr Bradley said: "It is a terrible loss for them. There is a terrible sense of sadness."
