Driver is critical after car smashes into garden in Donegal

By Staff Reporter

Gardai are appealing for information after a serious road collision in Co Donegal.

The single-vehicle accident happened on the main road between Londonderry and the Donegal village of Moville at around 12.30am on Saturday.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was last night said to be in a critical condition after his vehicle ploughed through a wooden fence and into a garden at Redcastle.

He was initially taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. However, he was later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

It is understood that there were six people in the car at the time of the crash.

A woman who had been travelling as a passenger was treated for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The main Moville to Derry road was closed for most of yesterday.

Road diversions were put in place.
