Driver killed in Limerick road crash

A man in his 50s has died after a road crash in Limerick.

He was the driver of a car which collided with another vehicle on the R524 Cooke West, Athea, at about 9.30pm on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second car was unhurt.

An investigation is under way to establish the cause of the accident and the road remains closed while Garda technical officers examine the scene.
