Driver shot in car parked in lay-by

A man in his 40s has been shot as he sat in his car in a lay-by.

A gunman was driven to the scene of the attack on the Naul Road, north Dublin, and jumped from the passenger side to open fire.

Gardai said the hitman was wearing a high visibility jacket with his face was covered by an ice hockey mask or visor.

The gunman fired several shots into the driver's side of the car, which was parked in the lay-by.

He was hit in the arm and was later taken to Beaumont Hospital, where his injuries are described as not life-threatening.

The attack occurred at about 1pm on Friday.

The gunman's car is described as a dark-coloured saloon.

Detectives said the attacker is between 5ft 10in and 5ft 11in and of normal build.

Witnesses who may have been on the stretch of road around the time of the shooting are urged to contact Swords Garda Station.
