Drugs worth four million euro seized by gardai

Drugs worth four million euro have been seized by gardai.

Two men were arrested following separate and unrelated searches on Friday evening in Ballyfermot, Dublin.

Heroin and cocaine was confiscated and will be the subject of forensic analysis.

It followed an intelligence-led operation by gardai attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

In the first operation a car was intercepted in the Ballyfermot area and a search was conducted, with approximately 20 kilos of heroin and cocaine being seized.

One man aged in his late 20s was arrested and detained at Clondalkin Garda station under anti-drug trafficking legislation.

In the second operation, a car was intercepted at Parkwest Road, Ballyfermot, searched and approximately 22.5 kilos of heroin and cocaine was seized.

A 51-year-old man was arrested in connection with this separate investigation and is detained at Clondalkin Garda Station.

In a follow-up operation at a commercial premises in the Kylemore Industrial Estate, approximately 1.8 kilos of suspected cannabis resin was discovered.

The seizures have a combined estimated street value of four million euro, gardai said.

Their investigation is ongoing.
