Fans are rockin’ for family festival

By Donna Deeney

The Rockin’ by the River festival is well under way and the inclement weather this summer has proved no deterrent for people attending the popular event at Gleneely in Co Donegal.

Events kicked off on Sunday and will continue until next Sunday. This year a jam-packed schedule guarantees something for the entire family, once again all in the aid of good causes.

The nominated charities this year are TAMMA, Tiny Life, Foyle Hospice, Plumbridge Cycle Club and Gleneely GFC.

Among the events still to come are a Strictly Come Dancing extravaganza with local winners from neighbouring areas taking to the dancefloor on Saturday.

Meanwhile, The Crazy Folkers, a Co Antrim-based band will take to the stage on Saturday, while music from Justin McGurk and the Boogie Men and Mike Denver is also on the programme.

Joseph Carolan, from the organising committee, said: “There will be copies of the festival programme available locally.

“As with every year, events within the festival diary are run to help various charitable organisations chosen by the committee,” he added.
