Garda and another person sustain gunshot injuries

Gardai are at the scene of a shooting in Dublin where a garda and another person have sustained gunshot injuries.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning in the Barnwell area of Ballymun in Dublin.

Armed officers from the Emergency Response Unit were supporting uniformed officers in a drugs raid at approximately 630am this morning when the incident began.

The injuries to the garda and the man are not believed to be life threatening. Both were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

The area around the building has been sealed off, and armed gardai remain at the scene.
