Garda sergeant stabbed in hand

A Garda sergeant has been stabbed in the hand after trying to break up a fight outside a pub.

Three other men also suffered knife wounds during the incident, which happened just after midnight on Lower Main Street in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

All four injured were taken to Letterkenny general hospital, with the three men later released.

The Garda sergeant remains in hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned at Letterkenny Garda station.
