Gardai are investigating the attempted abduction of a woman in Dublin.

A man tried to bundle the woman, aged in her 60s, into the boot of his car in the Blackhorse Avenue area at about 7.30am on Monday.

The suspect who approached and attacked the woman was wearing a white t-shirt and dark trousers.

She managed to flee the scene and the car drove away on Blackhorse Avenue towards the city centre.

The car, described as a silver family saloon, may have turned left and gone on to the Navan Road.

Gardai in Cabra want to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Blackhorse Avenue between 6am and 8am, or anyone else who may have information about the incident.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who might have dashcam footage from the area at the time.
