Hill remains 'are missing man'

Skeletal remains found by hill walkers in the Dublin Mountains have been identified as missing man James Kenny McDonagh.

The 28-year-old Dublin father vanished almost 15 months ago.

It is suspected he was targeted by a criminal gang and met a violent death before he was buried in a shallow grave.

The discovery was made at around midday on Sunday in the Slievenabawnoge area off Military Road in Tallaght.

Mr McDonagh, from Islandbridge Court in Dublin 8, was last seen in the Bluebell/Ballyfermot area on Wednesday October 27, 2010.

His family began to fear for his safety when his Mazda 6 car was discovered that evening burnt out at Milltown, between Peamount Hospital and the now derelict Polly Hops pub.

Dental records were used to help identify the body, which was discovered beside an uprooted tree.

Forensic anthropologist Laureen Buckley and technical officers also carried out a technical examination of the scene, which remains cordoned off.
