An army bomb disposal team was called to an address at Sycamore Drive in Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow, by gardai.

A Defence Forces spokesman said the team arrived on scene at 3.20pm on Sunday and made the viable improvised explosive device safe.

It was then removed to a military installation for further examination, and subsequently handed over to the Gardai for their investigations.
