Human leg found on Dublin beach

Gardai are investigating the discovery of a human leg on a beach in Dublin.

The body part was found by a walker on Dollymount strand shortly before 9am on Friday.

The leg, which may have been severed by a passing ship in the bay, is believed to belong to a woman.

It had not been badly decomposed so is not suspected to have been in the water for a long period of time.

A Garda spokesman said the state pathologist office had been notified.
