Human remains found in search for rapist's body
Human remains have been found at a lough in the search for the body of a rapist.
Gardai said the discovery was made at Lough Na Glack near Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan where officers have been working for the last three days.
Convicted rapist James Nolan from Dublin vanished more than six years ago.
A human torso was discovered in early April during separate excavations in Tolka Valley Park in Finglas, north Dublin.
An arm, forensically identified as that of Nolan, was discovered on Dublin's Dollymount Beach in 2011.
The rapist served 14 years in jail for rape and false imprisonment before going missing.
Gardai said t he local coroner in Monaghan and the State Pathologist's office have been notified following the latest discovery.
"The remains have yet to be identified and inquires are ongoing. Searches at the site are continuing," the Garda press office said.
