An exciting new farming and agri website is transforming the way the sector consumes online news.

FarmIreland.ie is a website and app which is set to become the daily "must read" for farmers and those in the agri-business sector across the island.

The new digital product has been launched by Independent News & Media - owners of this title - and is being produced by a strong team of agri journalists.

"We are showing our commitment to the agri-food sector at Independent News and Media (INM) by rolling out FarmIreland, our new dedicated farming and agri platform," said INM editor-in-chief Stephen Rae.

"It is set to be the destination site for everyone in the sector.

"FarmIreland.ie will provide farmers with the latest in farming news, market prices, technical advice and technology developments which impact on their businesses.

FarmIreland.ie - available for download in the App store - would also have a strong focus on rural issues and country life areas, which continue to be of huge relevance, he said.

The new product covers the latest in farming, agribusiness and rural news as it happens across a host of platforms, including desktop, mobile, tablet and app. With key writers, opinion leaders and experts, FarmIreland.ie is setting the agenda for the agri sector on the island. The editorial team use the latest in technology to provide readers with new and innovative ways to experience content.

To head up FarmIreland.ie, INM has appointed Margaret Donnelly as Agri Digital Editor.

"The launch of FarmIreland.ie by Ireland's leading news and media group will be welcomed by the wider agriculture community as it confirms that farming and rural issues remain at the heart of Independent.ie coverage," she said.

"Rather than reducing its coverage of farming and rural issues, INM is investing more in these areas recognising their unique and valued place in Irish culture," added Fionnuala O'Leary, Digital Editor at Independent.ie.

Ms O'Leary also said that affirmation of the vision of the project was confirmed with the announcement that two industry-leading companies, Zoetis and Zurich Insurance, had secured sponsorship deals with FarmIreland.ie

FarmIreland.ie was launched by INM in the full knowledge of the continued vital role that agriculture plays in the wider Irish economy, with the sector commonly regarded as Ireland's most important indigenous product.
