Man, 59, dies in head-on collision in Tipperary

A five-year-old boy and another man were hospitalised by the fatal crash.

A man has died in a head-on crash in Co Tipperary.

Two cars collided on the R661 at Reddan’s Walk near Tipperary town at about 12.30pm on Monday.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 59-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A five-year-old boy travelling in the same car was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick, as was the driver of the second car, a 54-year-old man.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed on Monday afternoon to facilitate a forensic examination. The coroner was also due to be informed.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
