Man arrested after stand-off in Dublin housing estate 'was armed with knife'

A man has been arrested following a standoff with gardai in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardaí were called to Cashel Road in Crumlin at 3.15pm this afternoon, where a man had barricaded himself into a house.

It is understood the man was armed with a knife.

The road was sealed off as officers dealt with the incident.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing what they believed to be garda negotiators present.

The incident ended peacefully at around 5pm.

The road has re-opened and the man is in custody.
