Man charged over death of boxer in collision
Kevin Sheehy died in a collision with an SUV in Limerick on Monday.
A man has been charged by detectives investigating the death of a champion boxer in a road crash.
Kevin Sheehy, a 20-year-old Olympic hopeful, died after he was knocked down on the Hyde Road in Limerick in the early hours of Monday.
He died at the scene after being hit by a black SUV in an alleged hit-and-run incident.
A 29-year-old man arrested on Monday was charged on Tuesday night.
He is due to appear before Limerick District Court on Wednesday morning.
An 18-year-old man who was also arrested for questioning about Mr Sheehy’s death was released on Tuesday without charge.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
