Man critically injured in Waterford shooting

A man in his 30s has been critically injured in a shooting in Waterford.

The victim was shot multiple times outside an apartment block in the city at around 2.15pm on Monday.

The incident happened at the Mount Suir Apartments on Carrickphierish Road.

The injured man was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel before being taken to University Hospital Waterford.

The scene was sealed off to facilitate forensic examination, with the road closed.

Gardai have appealed to pedestrians or motorists who were in the area between 2pm and 2.30pm to come forward.

They urged people to contact an incident room at Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300 or any other Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
