Man dies after Offaly knife attack

A Polish man has been stabbed to death and a second man injured, Gardai have said.

The knife attack took place at a house in Tullamore, Co Offaly, early on Thursday morning.

Officers were called to a disturbance at the home in the Kilbride Street area of the town at about 7.25am and found the man, aged in his 30s.

A Garda spokesman said the man was rushed to hospital where he died a short time later from his injuries.

The injured man was being treated at the Midland Regional Hospital.

Gardai said the house has been sealed off and the State Pathologist's Office has been notified.

The second man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing, the spokesman added.
