Man dies after pub assault

A man in his 20s has been arrested after the incident in Mitchelstown, County Cork.

A man has died after a fight in a pub, gardai said.

The victim, in his 30s, died at the scene in Mitchelstown, County Cork, after the assault at around 11pm on Friday.

A man in his 20s has been arrested and is being held at Fermoy Garda station.

An incident room is open at the station and witnesses are urged to call 025 82100 with information.

The State Pathologist’s office has been informed and the pub remains closed for examination.
