Man dies after stabbing attack

A young man has died after a stabbing, gardai said.

The victim, who was Polish and in his twenties, had been out with a group of friends at the Wright Venue nightclub in Swords, north Co Dublin.

They are believed to have left the club at around 3am on Sunday and the man was taken to the Rotunda Hospital around an hour later with serious stab wounds.

He was transferred to the Mater Hospital, where he died.

The victim had been living in Ireland for several years and had an address in Naas, Co Kildare.

Gardai are trying to contact his family.

They have appealed for anyone with information to get in contact.

A Garda spokesman said they had not established any immediate connection between the incident and an attempted pipe bomb attack near the same nightclub around the same time.
