Man dies following three-car collision in Co Cork

A man in his 50s has died following a road traffic collision in Co Cork.

Gardai in Mallow are investigating the incident involving three cars that occurred on the N20 in Ballybeg, west Buttevant, at around 10.50pm on Monday night.

A man suffered fatal injuries when his car collided with a second car. One of the cars spun on the road and hit a third vehicle.

Emergency services attended the scene. The man was pronounced dead a short time later and his body was taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.

The driver and two passengers in the second car were taken to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries.

The Buttevant-Mallow road is partially closed for Garda investigators with local diversions in place.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the incident, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling on the Buttevant-Mallow road between 10pm and 11.30pm on February 18, to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
