Man dies in blaze at Dublin house

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man in a house blaze.

Firefighters were called to the fire at Cabra Park in Phibsboro, north Dublin at around 11.45pm on Monday.

A 40-year-old man, one of three who were taken for medical treatment, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mater Hospital.

The two other men did not suffer serious injuries and were later released from hospital.

Another three people who were in the house at the time escaped unhurt.

Gardai sealed off the scene for a technical examination by forensic experts.

They have also appealed for witnesses to contact them.
