Man dies in Co Donegal crash

A motorcyclist aged in his 50s has died following a two-vehicle collision in Co Donegal yesterday evening.

The collision took place on the main Londonderry to Buncrana Road, on the outskirts of the village of Fahan in the Republic at around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

A man, confirmed to be the motorcyclist, was taken to Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Londonderry where he was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.

Meanwhile, the driver of the second vehicle, a car, escaped uninjured, according to reports.

The tragedy occurred as tens of thousands of people flocked to Co Donegal for the Irish Open golf tournament at Ballyliffin.
