Man found dead in Clonmel stairwell

An investigation has been launched after a man was found dead in an apartment block.

The body of the man, in his 40s, was discovered in the stairwell of the complex in New Quay, Clonmel, Co Tipperary.

It is believed he had been involved in an incident at a nearby apartment in Abbey Street some time earlier.

Both scenes are being preserved ahead of a preliminary examination by state pathologist Marie Cassidy.

Garda technical experts will also carry out forensic tests at both locations.

Investigating officers have appealed for witnesses.
