The body of a man has been recovered from a railway line in Dublin.

The discovery was made at about 8.40am on Friday in the Drumcondra area.

Gardai said the body was taken to the city morgue, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

A Garda spokeswoman said: “The investigation into this sudden death will be determined by the results of the post-mortem. Investigations are ongoing.”

Irish Rail wrote on Twitter at the time: “Gardai attending incident on the line in vicinity of Drumcondra. Expect Docklands services to be diverted into Connolly for the remainder of the morning. Delays to all services through Connolly as a result.”
