Man held after shooting incident

A man is being questioned by detectives after a shooting incident.

Gardai went to a house in Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, Dublin, following a 999 call, where it was reported that a shooting had occurred.

A 25-year-old man was discovered at the house with a firearms injury to his face.

He was taken to nearby Connolly Hospital, and was later expected to be transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman said the man's condition was stable.

Gardai said they determined that the actual shooting happened at another location at Whitestown Park.

Both scenes have been preserved for forensic examination.

"An operation was put in place and a house was searched on Whitestown Park resulting in a 31-year-old man being arrested," said a Garda spokesman.

"He is presently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act."

Investigating officers have appealed for witnesses.
