Man hurt in petrol station shooting

A 26-year-old man has been shot a number of times in a gun attack.

The injured man was fired upon at a petrol station on the outskirts of Castlebar, Co Mayo, at about 3.30pm.

Gardai said the man was taken to Mayo General Hospital.

The gun attack took place on the Moneen Road and the scene has been preserved pending a technical examination.

Gardai said a dark coloured estate car was seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting.
