Man in court over Cork taxi death

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a well known Cork city taxi driver.

Michael Healy, 62, was found dead in his one-bed flat on Rocksprings Terrace, St Luke's, on the northside of the city, on Wednesday.

At a special sitting of Cork District Court, 37-year-old Lloyd Buckley, also from Rocksprings Terrace, was charged with murdering the separated father-of-two at some point between September 18 and 22.

He was remanded in custody.

Mr Healy, who died from head trauma, was last seen alive some time around last Friday in Cork city centre.
