Man in critical condition after falling from rocks while fishing in Waterford
A man has died and another remain in a serious condition following a fishing accident in County Waterford.
The two men were swept off the rocks while fishing near the coastal village of Annestown at around 1.50pm this afternoon.
Garda confirmed the death, saying the man passed away at University Hospital Waterford earlier this afternoon.
Another man remains in a serious but stable condition following the pair's rescue by crews based in Tramore after they were swept into the sea by a large wave.
The alarm was raised shortly after 1.50pm by a companion of the men, and the Waterford based Coastguard Helicopter, the Tramore Coastguard unit, Tramore RNLI and Bunmahon Community Rescue Boat were all launched.
The man was winched from the water by the Coastguard helicopter and brought to University Hospital Waterford by ambulance.
