Man in custody after serious assault in Dublin

Victim, 44, was taken to St James’s Hospital where he remain in a serious condition, after the assault on April 26.

A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Dublin’s Temple Bar.

Gardai said the man, aged 32, was taken into custody on Friday morning in connection with an assault on another man on April 26.

The incident occurred on Prices Lane in the city at about 10.30pm.

The victim, 44, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St James’s Hospital. He remains in hospital and his injuries have been described as serious.

The Garda said the suspect in the investigation made his way onto Aston Quay near its junction with Bedford Row where he removed items of his clothing and appeared to have laid down on the street.

His behaviour attracted public attention and investigating officers understand that this man may have been recorded on mobile phones.
