Man in custody after woman dies in Dublin home

A 60-year-old man remained in custody on Sunday evening after being arrested in connection with the death of a woman in her Dublin home.

The 57-year-old woman died in her home at Willow Wood in the Hartstown area of Blanchardstown on Sunday morning.

The suspect has been detained at Blanchardstown garda station.

Gardai attended the property around 11.30am and found the woman with serious injuries.

Emergency services treated her, but she was declared dead at the scene.

The woman’s body was later removed to the City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will be carried out on Monday morning by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Kathleen Han.

The scene remained preserved on Sunday evening as examinations by members of the Garda Technical Bureau continued.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
