Man in hospital after being shot in west Dublin

A man was being treated in hospital after being shot, gardai have said.

The victim, who is aged in his early 40s, suffered a gunshot wound after being targeted in the Walkinstown area of west Dublin.

The shooting took place on Greenhills Road at about 11.35am.

It is understood the man did not suffer life-threatening injuries and g ardai said he was taken to Tallaght Hospital.

Gardai appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting or for anyone with information to contact Crumlin station or any other Garda contacts or stations.

Officers said investigations were continuing.

The shooting happened at Cullen's Car Parts in Walkinstown.

It is understood the victim was a customer.

The business is a car dismantler and scrapyard which supplies new and used car spares and parts.
