Man killed in Cork flats stabbing

A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed to death in a row between friends.

The victim, 25, was killed after an argument broke out at a flat complex in Passage West, Co Cork, on Thursday night.

The suspect, aged 23, was detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act and is being questioned at Togher garda station.

Gardai appealed for witnesses to the attack which happened at about 11.45pm.

Detectives believe the two men were friends and had been in a flat just off Cork Road when the argument broke out.

The fight spilled out on to the street where gardai in a local patrol car witnessed it.

The dead man has been named locally as Jonathan Daly, who also used the surname Kenneally.

Gardai have recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack and are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the killing.

It is understood the men had addresses near each other in Passage.
