Man killed in Galway wall crash

A man aged in his 50s has died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall in Co Galway.

The collision happened in the Kildaree area of Williamstown, a village in the north east of the county.

Two female passengers who were also in the vehicle were not seriously injured in the crash, which happened at around 9.15am on Sunday.

The driver was pronounced dead at Mayo General Hospital.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Tuam Garda station.

There was another fatal crash later in the day in Co Clare.

A woman in her 20s was killed in the single car collision close to Ennis shortly before 4pm.

The vehicle crashed on the northbound lane of the M18 at Ballylion in Barefield.

Another woman in the car suffered minor injuries.
