Man killed in Slane road accident

One man has died and another has been seriously injured in a car crash on the N2, gardai have said.

The collision happened on the main Dublin to Derry road between Slane and Collon at around 12.10am on Wednesday.

Investigators said two men, aged in their 20s, travelling in one car were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious injuries.

One of those men was later pronounced dead. The other man remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Another man and a woman in a second car were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after the crash at Glasallen, Collon, around three miles north of Slane.

Their condition is described as not life threatening.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions put in place.

Gardai in Navan are investigating and have appealed for witnesses.
