Man quizzed over capital shooting

A man is being questioned by detectives over an early-hours gun attack in north Dublin.

The victim was shot in the leg at a house on Adare Road, Coolock, shortly before 1.30am.

When gardai arrived at the scene, they discovered the 22-year-old injured man in the house with two other men and two women.

He was taken to nearby Beaumont Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

A garda spokesman said officers investigating the incident later located a car nearby which they believe to have been used by the gunman.

In a follow-up operation, a 24-year-old man was arrested close by and taken to Ballymun garda station, where he is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.

He can be detained for up to 72 hours.

The area has been sealed off pending a technical examination.
