Man who fired shots at police in the Republic taken to hospital
A man who fired shots at gardai in Co Dublin has been taken to hospital.
The man in his 40s was believed to have been armed with a 9mm pistol and was reportedly firing shots at gardai from house.
He has been taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s hospital suffering from a head injury.
Gardai say the incident is now under investigation.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Dundrum have been dealing with an incident outside a house at Farrenboley Park, Windy Arbour, Dundrum involving a man in his early 40s."
"The incident commenced today at 3.30pm and was brought to a conclusion at about 5.20pm."
"The man has been removed by ambulance to St Vincent’s hospital suffering from a head injury. The incident is under investigation."
It is not clear how the man's injury was sustained.
