The body of a man has been found in a garden in a suburb of Limerick, gardai said.
The discovery was made at the Briarfield estate in Castletroy on Friday morning.
Investigating gardai are linking the remains to a report they received on Wednesday of a missing person.
A Garda spokesman said: "The body was discovered as a result of enquiries carried out regarding this investigation."
The scene at Castletroy has been sealed off for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The Office of the State Pathologist has also been notified.
