Money recovered after armed robbery

Two men armed with a handgun and hammer held up a suburban supermarket.

The pair threatened staff at Killester Supervalu in Co Dublin at around 6.20pm on Sunday before fleeing with a substantial amount of cash.

The made their escape in a red Citroen Saxo driven by another man.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured in the raid.

The car was abandoned a short distance away on Gracefield Road.

After follow up investigations a 27-year-old man was arrested in the back garden of a house on Mask Crescent.

He is being held under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act at Clontarf Garda Station.

All the money was recovered.
