Pair arrested as loaded firearm and ammunition seized

Two men have been arrested after a loaded firearm and ammunition were seized at a house in west Dublin.

Officers from Garda’s Emergency Response Unit and the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau searched the house at around 11.30pm on Friday.

Two men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested and are currently being held at Clondalkin Garda Station for questioning.

Gardai said they believe the seizure saved a life and they have described the incident as highly significant.

Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said: “This is yet another successful intervention by the Garda Siochana in a potential threat to life incident, involving the seizure of a loaded firearm and the arrest of suspects.”
