Pair arrested over armed hold-up

Two men have been arrested and a handgun recovered after an armed hold-up.

Gardai said a man threatened staff and demanded cash at gunpoint at a shop on the Cork Road in Waterford just before midnight last night.

He fled the scene in a dark coloured car.

No money was stolen and no injuries sustained during the incident, gardai said.

In a follow-up search, two men in their 30s were arrested and a gun recovered.
