Pedestrian, 19, dies in car crash

Gardai have launched an investigation after a teenager was killed when he was hit by car.

The 19-year-old died at the scene on the old N1 road, north of Drogheda, Co Louth, last night.

It is believed he was trying to cross the road when he was struck by a car at around 8pm.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt in the collision.

The scene was preserved for a forensic examination while the victim's body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where a full post-mortem examination is to be carried out.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses.
