Pedestrian critically injured in Co Galway collision

A woman is critically ill in hospital after being struck by a car in Co Galway.

The 52-year-old pedestrian was left seriously injured after the collison on a road in Carrowmanagh, Oughterard, on Christmas Eve.

She was taken to the University Hospital Galway where she remained in a critical condition on Wednesday.

The driver of the car, a woman in her late 40s, was not injured.

Garda investigators have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident.

They have urged anyone who travelled between Oughterard and Carrowmanagh between approximately 8pm and 9pm on Tuesday to contact officers.
