Pedestrian dies in Luas collision

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a Luas, gardai have said.

The incident happened at about 4.40pm at Steevens Lane close to Heuston Station.

The 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to Dublin city morgue.

The area remains sealed off by emergency services at the scene, which include garda collisions investigators and Dublin Fire Brigade.

Luas Red Line services have been suspended between Blackhorse and the city centre, with trams only running from Tallaght/Saggart to Blackhorse.

A spokeswoman said all Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus routes.
